Ready, Set, Go!

May was so long ago, which means so much has happened to the Leavitt family! Before I tell you about our summer I would like to let the few of you who actually read this little blog that Chad and I are expanding our little family by one next March! That's right, Peyton is going to be a big sister!!! We are pretty excited to be having another one. Well, I am excited on the days that I am actually feeling good. I will admit that there were about 4 weeks in the beginning that I felt crappy everyday, which meant that my house was always messy. Oh well :)

Now to get on with the fun stuff. At the end of July we celebrated Peyton's 1st birthday and let me tell you it was a huge celebration. We did a little ladybug theme which was so much fun. I made my first themed cake, a little ladybug of course with frosting that had to be piped on. That alone took so long, but for my baby girl I was willing to keep going. We had a little swim party with our immediate family and all of my extended family, so it was a pretty big bash. I may have gone a little overboard :)

In August we decided that we wanted to get away from Vegas for a few days so we went down to Cali. Who doesn't love Cali? We took Peyton to Huntington beach for the first time. She was a little hesitant about the sand at first but she warmed up pretty quick. She liked to fill her little bucket up and then dump it out and start the process all over again. We did some shopping and eating, but most of all had so much fun with just the three of us.

In September we went up to Truckee, California to visit my dad who has been working up there all summer. It was kind of weird to be back in the Northern Nevada area since I had been there in about 4 years. So much has changed. We had fun just hanging out since there isn't a whole lot to do in Truckee. We ate at some pretty weird places since there are just little local places up there. On Saturday we decided to take a drive through Tahoe so that we could see the Lake. We decided to get out at one of the scenic overlooks. There were some trails that we walked down to get a better look at the lake. I knew that we were going to have issues when all of us were wearing sandals instead of tennis shoes. Well, right after we got done taking some really nice pictures with the lake in the background, Chad had Peyton on his shoulders and started walking down another trail to see the lake. Next then I see is Chad's feet slip out from under him and Peyton falling on her back. I started freaking out and yelling so loud, other people had come over to see what was going one. Chad ended up being fine, but Peyton was hysterical by the time I got to her, but I thought she had just landed on her back. When we got to the car I noticed a bump on the back of her head. She hit it on the rock as she fell back. She was acting super tired and wanted to fall asleep right away so we immediately felt that it would be best to get her to the ER and checked out. Well, after 2 hours in the ER and xrays she turned out to be fine! I must say that was the scariest moment of my life to see my husband and daughter fall like that.

Hopefully I haven't bored you with this novel, but I did say it was an eventful summer!

Mother's Day and recent happenings

I was lucky enough to celebrate my first Mother's Day this year with my two favorite people! Chad surprised me with a big portrait of Peyton and I when she was only 2 weeks old. Chad has a really hard time keeping secrets and when he tells me that he has something planned I try everything to get him to spill the beans. I failed to do so and was completely shocked when I opened up this beautiful gift. Peyton even got me a card and wrote in it....who knew a 9 month old could write :)

The week after Mother's Day we went up to Utah for my cousin Katie's wedding. The wedding day was a long and busy day, but Peyton was a trooper and did great even without a nap the entire day.

Peyton is not a carseat sleeper, but we got lucky for about 30 minutes
Uncle Jordan loves Peyton
I hardly ever get pictures of me in them since I am usually the one behind the camera....please don't mind the greasy forehead, it was a long day :)
Peyton had fun playing with her second cousin Maggie who is only 6 weeks younger. Too bad they don't live closer :(
So cute
Chad doing what he does best...working while on vacation, and Peyton loving every minute of it

Peyton turned 10 months yesterday and is on the move. She is such a fast little crawler who wishes she could walk. She will be walking in no time, but just can't figure out that she needs to move her feet while standing there! She absolutely loves being outside wether it's sitting outback on the grass or going for walks. We are looking forward to her being able to walk so she can actually enjoy the park and everything it has to offer. We hope to spend a lot of time this summer in the pool with grandma, and taking some outings to the little waterparks that the valley has to offer. The joys of having a little kid :)

Way behind

So even though I am way behind in my posting, I figured I should still post some Easter pictures. We spent Easter weekend in St. George with Chad's family to celebrate his Grandpa's birthday. It was fun to spend time with all of Chad's siblings. We then headed back to Vegas on Easter to eat dinner with my family. It's always nice to get away for a couple of days, but it's so nice to come home and sleep in your own bed.

Peyton has experienced her first dip in the hot tub a few days ago. I'm pretty sure she is going to love spending the summer in the Grandma and Grandpa's pool which we are so looknig forward to! She's getting so big, she's almost 9 months old and is kind of crawling....baby proofing here I come :) I swear she wants to skip the crawling and go straight to walking.

Cruising Around

My little girl is getting so big! The other night Chad and I were sitting at the table eating dinner while Peyton was taking her nightly cruise around the kitchen. All of a sudden I realize she is no longer in the kitchen...where could she be??? She decided to take a stroll through the doorway and into the hallway! Mind you her car barely fits through the doorway so I'm not quite sure how she managed to get through prefectly without hitting the walls. Peyton has really taken a liking to the piano. She loves to be in the living room while daddy is practicing, but loves it even more when she gets to sit on daddy's lap and play us a little tune! Sometimes I wish I could just freeze time so that she could stay this small, but as she grows and discovers new things on a daily basis, she gets even more fun to be home with:) I can't express how grateful and blessed I am to be able to be a stay-at-home mommy!

I love him!

I just wanted to take a minute to express how grateful I am for everything that I have in my life. I was sitting in church on Sunday with my cute little family just thinking how lucky I am to have an amazing husband that works so hard to take care of us. We have a beautiful home that we love so much and beautiful things to go inside our home. Chad is the one that makes that possible. He is amazing in every way and allows us to live such a wonderful life. When he comes home from work he is so tired but regardless of that he loves to spend time with his girls! I can't imagine anything better than the three of us together!

6 months of pure joy

Our beautiful little baby turned 6 months old on Wednesday. Where has the time gone? It seems just like yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital trying to figure out this whole parenting thing. Each day gets easier though that's for sure. Peyton's little personality is beginning to shine through and it is so much fun. It seems like she wants to just get up and walk around so bad, but she thankfully is not there yet.

This week we also started Peyton on rice cereal and some vegetables. Once I started putting the spoon in her mouth it was as though I couldn't keep it coming fast enough. I was surprised at how much she like it. Her experience with the sweet potatoes was the same, it couldn't get to her mouth quick enough. Maybe she feels like she has been missing out just having a bottle for so long!

It honestly is so hard to think of what our life was like before little miss Peyton joined our family! She has brought so much happiness into our home it is amazing. She really makes being a mom so much fun.

The Christmas Season of 2009

The Leavitt family had an amazing Christmas this year! It was so much fun to celebrate this special time of year with your new little baby Peyton. Not that Peyton truly knew what was going on and that she was even getting presents, but it was still fun for Chad and I to experience this with her. She made out like a bandit that's for sure! Between us and Peyton's grandparent's she made out with a huge load of toys and clothes! We are so excited to celebrate Christmas next year! WARNING: Picture overload.....
